Summer is here and it's time to chill by the pool or at the beach with a refreshing cocktail or your favorite craft beer! Some of my favorite cocktails are perfect for summer and beating the heat. Mojitos, of all kinds especially - I really like jazzing them up and putting a twist on them. Like this Strawberry Mojito - it's so refreshing and you can add our Color Changing Edible Brew Glitter

  • 1 ounce simple syrup

  • 3 fresh strawberries

  • 2–3 fresh spearmint sprigs

  • 1 ounces fresh lime juice

  • 2 ounces light rum

  • 3–4 ounces (90–120 mL) soda water

  • Color Changing Brew Glitter

In a chilled tall glass, muddle the simple syrup, strawberries and mint leaves together with the back of a spoon or muddler. Crush the strawberries and mint leaves well.

Stir in the lime juice and rum. Fill the glass with ice and top off with soda water. Gently stir in your Color Changing Brew Glitter. Garnish with mint sprigs or strawberry slices and ENJOY!!

Spin on the Classics

During the summer everyone seems to love a Skinny Margarita as well. One of my favorites is a Spicy Jalapeno Margarita, rimmed with our colored Rimming Salts! Makes the drink that much tastier, and looks more aesthetically pleasing as well. The heat from the jalapenos, and brightness/sour from the lime is such a treat together! If you want to jazz it up even more, you can add a spritz of sour garnish with our easy pump Tinker Dust. Glitter makes everything better, doesn't it?! I think so..

  • Brew Glitter Rimming Salt and a lime wedge to rim the glass

  • Ice

  • Brew Glitter
  • 2 ounces silver tequila about 3 tablespoons

  • 3 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice about 1 large or 1 1/2 small limes; do not use bottled lime juice, as it will have a very off flavor

  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed orange juice about 1/2 small/medium orange

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons light agave nectar add 2 if you prefer a sweeter margarita

  • 1/4 to 1/2 jalapeño pepper cut into thin, round slices (use more for more spice)

  • Lime wedges additional jalapeño slices for serving

Rub a lime wedge around the top edge of your glass, then dip the glass into the salt so that it sticks, tapping all the way around. Fill the glass with ice and set aside. Fill a small cocktail shaker with additional ice. Add the tequila, lime juice, orange juice, brew glitter, agave, and jalapeño slices. Tightly close and shake vigorously! Strain into the rimmed glass. Enjoy immediately, garnished with lime wedges and additional jalapeño slices.

However, if you tend to be more of a wine or craft beer drinker, those are great and easy to crack open anywhere too! There are so many new canned wine options and various craft beer options sold at local stores now, there is always something to grab for.

We always make sure to have our outside fridge stocked with funk unexpected drinks like Hard Kombucha, new fun flavors of Seltzer (these are huge this year!), and the latest releases of canned and bottled craft beers. I usually try to stick with Blond's, Saison, Lagers etc for summer, they're lighter and less heavy than some of the other darker beers.

Rub a lime wedge around the top edge of your glass, then dip the glass into the Rimming Sugar so that it sticks. Add in some ice, chunks of watermelon, and a small handful of blueberries. Pour in some of your Kombucha, a sprinkle of Brew Glitter, and top off the glass with Sparkling water. If you're feeling festive, add a cute little watermelon slice to the rim and serve! This drink is so delicious and the sugared rim really takes it over the edge, it truly tastes like summer in a cup!

In my opinion, some of the best flavor combos are used in summer cocktails! Flavors like peach, fresh lemon, basil and mint are perfect summer additions to almost any cocktail. And according to the New York Times, the "drink of the summer" is whats called a 'Dirty Shirley'. Basically, it's a jazzed up Shirley Temple we all used to love when we were kids. You can make this version for the adults at your party, and a 'virgin' one for kids! And of course, it doesnt hurt to make it aesthetically pleasing and sparkly, add some Flavored Tinker Dust for a sour/sweet combo!

What you'll need:

Instructions

  • Fill a glass with ice, then add brew glitter, 2 ounces (¼ cup) vodka and 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) grenadine. Top with soda, garnish with a maraschino cherry, then sprinkle in whatever flavor Tinker Dust you think would compliment your drink, and enjoy!

Summer is time for us all to take a step back, breathe, and relax! Kids are out of school and schedules aren't as crazy as they normally are. Sit back, relax with one of these cool refreshing drinks, and enjoy some sand between your toes!
